BALLROOM DANCE IN THE SCHOOLS!Performing Arts are still an important part of education. Our mission is to provide an atmosphere of learning through the art of expressive dance. The lessons to be taught through this medium include self-esteem, confidence, poise, etiquette, respect, courtesy, teamwork, social awareness and diversity. Dance is a form of communication. Children learn to express themselves through movement while communicating with one another through the artistic language of dances such as Merengue, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Cha-Cha, and Swing.
Founded in 2004 by Anne Krantz, a mother and ballroom dancer, Edudance was created with a mission to share the educational value of partner dancing. With over 25 years of experience dancing and teaching (15 of those with Edudance), our current Owner/Director, Laura Bueno, has adapted 6-, 8-, 10-, or 12-week programs to bring this art form to elementary and middle school children ranging from 4th grade through 8th grade. School Districts that have brought Edudance to their schools include San Diego Unified SD, Cajon Valley Union SD, La Mesa-Spring Valley SD, National City, South Bay SD, Alpine, Mountain Empire, and more! Our program carefully recruits talented and qualified dance instructors who are taught the program syllabus and are comfortable and familiar with working with children of all ages. To be eligible to work as an instructor for Edudance, each instructor must pass the school district’s and county’s required background screening and medical exams. |
In the 45 minutes that we will spend with the students each session/week, we will be covering the California State standards for music, dance, and Physical Education. Many school districts have budgets for either physical education or the arts. The fact that our program meets these standards of education, funding for our program is likely available throughout all school districts. In addition, many PTA/PTO programs can provide funding to bring programs like Edudance to their schools. Should your school need to raise money for the program, tickets can be sold to attendees or donations taken at the final showcase. Our dance programs are uniquely designed to meet the needs of each school or district. Each course culminates in a showcase to allow parents and loved ones to see all that the kids have learned. Everyone dresses up! This is a very exciting event for the dancers and parents. Our trained instructors guide the students through all the dances during the showcase to ensure a top-notch performance. Edudance is inclusive for all gender identities and religious observations. We know that creating opportunities for younger students to experience the performing arts can be a challenge. Edudance hopes to bring such an opportunity to more students, expose them to different cultures, and share a love for dance. Contact us by phone or email and let us know your location, approximate dates of availability, and how many weeks you’d like to schedule for your students. We look forward to working with your school! |
